This song.........
This song has got me stumped. Just when I thought I had a grip on music, at least my taste in music, this comes along.
Sigur Ros. Undoubtedly modern day musical genius's. A talent that stretches around the world, a talent that has influenced artists of all genres aswell as millions of people who've heard their masterpieces. Personally one of my favourite artists of all time and one that has influenced me massively.
and Chicane, who makes trance music. (a genre making its way back to our ears, YAY!)
So, what of it. Chicane remixing hoppipolla? Before I heard it I would scream sacrilige. Nobody should, nobody deserves to touch their songs. Especially a trance-house dj. But that was before I listened to it. I could've easily drawn two lines. One through the north-south divide in the uk. And one straight down the middle of Europe. Everyone east of france, everyone north of london, won't have a problem with this song. Everyone else, everyone who loves sigur ros, will.
But again, that was before I heard it. And now I don't know what to think. Because I really like this song. I can't help it. Its hard to match the uplifting power of the original, but it comes close. The original is such a great song that you have to do an awful lot to ruin it completely. And given the opportunity, standing in the midst of the crowd with your hands in the air, why shouldn't I like it? It doesn't have to be as good as the original, it just has to work, which this does.
Make up your own minds, i really don't have any problems with people who hate it or love it. I can see both points. Download and enjoy!
